  • Funny final moves of the match - Vidit NOT playing the obvious move c2 forcing Bxc2. Instead moves the King anticipating Zaven's pre-move of Bc2! Classic cheap-o!

  • Queen A7 is losing (at 1:34:20) because black has dNF4. Engine evaluates as -3 for white. Wouldn't say he missed QA7...

  • can someone tell me why anyone would play on chess.com over lichess?

    czechpircczechpirc2 жыл мурун
    • They are more titled players on chess.com so the stronger opponents are less likely to get paired up against cheaters like on lichess, but yes I agree Lichess is still far better

      Y MY M2 жыл мурун
    • fair enough, if you prefer the platform, knock yourself out. to me, lichess is superior in every way but then again i gave up on chess.com a long time ago, perhaps theyve improved idk

      czechpircczechpirc2 жыл мурун
    • all the top players in the world play on chess.com, while hardly any GM's play on lichess. that should tell you something.

      Ray S.Ray S.2 жыл мурун
    • Why not? I play on both, they are both good. I wish Chess.com would be less commercial and Lichess had less annoying opponents.

  • One of the most interesting match ups so far. I really enjoy much closer and well faught matches

  • Vidit played really impressively! Game after game he consistently seemed to have a better understanding of the middle game positions. It was a really tight match, of course (until the very end) , and Zaven was often able to find creative resources under pressure. Now, having followed Wesley's speed chess, I've gotten the impression that he has one of the best strategic minds under fast time controls, being able to navigate into solid positions over and over again. Vidit needs to find yet another gear in order to clear the next obstacle. It's going to be an interesting match.

  • Robert Hess is incredibly strong! He sees tactics in a blink of an eye! Should have his place in the speed chess.

    • I agree. He's a really quick commentator. Though I imagine it's easier to comment than play in the sense that when you're playing, there is no room for error. You can see a brilliant tactic but you generally need to be quite sure it works before you can go for it.

  • Vidit like he played in this match, no chance against So. Good Luck!

    whitegoldsilverwhitegoldsilver2 жыл мурун
    • Yes, make no mistakes ;). That is the whole point, but I would imagine that its very hard to not make any mistakes against those super gms. But in this match he made some bad blunders which he should be able to avoid.

      TSgitaarTSgitaar2 жыл мурун
    • @TSgitaar If they play first round which is a time control of 5/1 with same score or not big differece, will be a most exciting match. It is important to make no mistake against players like So, Grischuk, Nakamura, Aronian and Karjakin online. They don't forgive.

      whitegoldsilverwhitegoldsilver2 жыл мурун
    • I was very impressed by Vidit, as I had never heard of him before. He just became stronger and stronger as the match progressed. Hardly any weaknesses in all the time controls, if he cuts out the blunders he could have a chance against So. I think that the final score is a good reflection of the match. He should have been up big before the bullet, because he was settling for draws too much. He shouldn't settle for draws against Wesley, if he wants to win.

      TSgitaarTSgitaar2 жыл мурун
    • @jtet rfs Vidit is a very strong GM and hopfully he playes stronger in 5/1 and 3/1 matches against Wesley So.

      whitegoldsilverwhitegoldsilver2 жыл мурун
    • That may be. But I also think that Vidit was a bit nervous during much of the match, since it was his first contest in this format. If he can settle his nerves a bit and practice a bit more, he should give Wesley a good fight.
